S3 Episode 20: An interview with powerhouse vocalist Devyn Rush!

This is The Unstoppable Singer and I’m chatting with Devyn Rush! A powerhouse vocalist & songwriter, Devyn most recently won Vocal Performance Of The Year at the 2022 Production Music Awards in Los Angeles. Rush grew up in a musical family, in a town outside of Philadelphia. Dubbed “A Vocal Chameleon” and featured on season 10 of American Idol, Devyn started singing as soon as she could talk and got her start in musical theatre. She fell in love with jazz & songwriting during her teen years and was the vocalist and bassist in her high school’s jazz band, winning the first vocal jazz awards the competitions had seen in years. When she was 15, Rush performed at Lincoln Center, originating a role in the 2007 Tony Award-winning musical, Spring Awakening, and then went on to understudy for three of the roles in the show off-Broadway. She moved to New York City right after graduating from high school to continue pursuing her career. There, she began doing vocal session work and writing songs for Film, TV & other artists. Today, Devyn is an in-demand session vocalist, songwriter, vocal arranger, vocal contractor, and performer. She releases her own music, writes songs for other artists, and can be heard in various commercials, TV shows & movies. Devyn loves working on new projects and is thrilled to recently have been brought on as the songwriter of a new musical. She uses her gifts to make a positive impact in the world, mentoring young girls and working with non-profit organizations.
